🌱 Planting & Repotting:
In the Ground:
Choose a spot with well-drained soil and partial shade. Dig a hole twice as wide and just as deep as the root ball. Place the tree, fill with native soil mixed with compost, and water thoroughly. Add mulch around the base (without touching the trunk) to retain moisture and regulate temperature.

In a Container:
Select a large pot with good drainage. Use a high-quality potting mix suitable for trees or shrubs. Repot every 2–3 years in early spring to refresh the soil and accommodate root growth. Water more frequently than in-ground trees, especially in warm weather.

☀️ Light Requirements:
Prefers partial shade to full sun. In hot climates, provide some afternoon shade to prevent leaf scorch and preserve the rich red color of the foliage.

💧 Watering:
Water deeply and consistently, especially during the first couple of years while the tree establishes. Once mature, it can tolerate short dry spells but benefits from regular watering during hot or dry periods. Ensure well-drained soil to prevent root rot.

🌿 Fertilizing:
Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Avoid high-nitrogen fertilizers, as they may encourage excessive leafy growth at the expense of color and form.

Minimal pruning is needed. Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth begins to remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches and to maintain its natural shape. Avoid heavy pruning, as Japanese Maples have a naturally elegant form that looks best when left slightly unstructured.
